Resident Says Bins Were Left Overflowing

Local resident Sarah Leisner posted that all four bins at Hangsman Lane Park, Laughton Common, were overflowing and claimed they had not been emptied for at least two weeks.

She said the situation became more worrying after her dog ate something from the ground before she was able to stop her.

“This is a kid’s park, and bins overflowing with dog waste next to the play area is not acceptable.”

Concerns Over Dog Waste Near Play Area

The resident raised concerns that the park had been busier while children were off school, making regular bin emptying even more important.

She said overflowing bins had led to rubbish being left on the floor, including waste close to the play area used by families and children.

Calls for More Regular Emptying

The complaint has prompted questions over how often bins are emptied at local parks, particularly during school holidays and busier periods.

Residents say basic maintenance, including emptying bins and keeping play areas clean, is essential for families, children and dog walkers using public spaces.

Issue Reported to the Council

The overflowing bins have reportedly been submitted to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council through its online reporting system.

Residents are being encouraged to report overflowing bins, litter and dog waste issues through the council’s official channels so they can be logged and addressed.
